Hanbury Barn Photo Shoot – Behind the Scenes

Hanbury Barn Photo Shoot – Behind the Scenes

Have you ever wondered what it was like behind the scenes of a photo shoot when you see all of the beautiful photos that arise over social media and publications? Well, I can tell you, there’s a lot of hard work and planning but also a lot of fun! Here’s some behind the scenes photos from a recent shoot I took part in at the wonderful new Staffordshire wedding venue, Hanbury Barn, which opened it’s doors in June 2019.

Setting Up

We all arrived on the morning of the shoot to mixed weather conditions of wind, cloud and sun and set about our own tasks of getting things ready for the shoot. Here I am packaging up favours with Lynsey and Emily munching on the Raspberry and Prosecco macarons I’d brought with me. Well, whats the point of taking food if it’s not going to be eaten!

The VenueHanbury Wedding Barn is a brand new wedding venue which opened it’s doors in June 2019. The barn has been restored to it’s former glory but with the environment at it’s heart. From the outset the owners of Hanbury Wedding Barn have worked hard to ensure that it is in harmony with the local environment. They are investing in renewable energy sources and aim they to peak at 85% of their own energy production. There are various beautiful spaces for photo opportunities such as the light flooded ceremony room and the beautiful courtyard for celebratory drinks.

The Bride, Make Up and Hair

Over on the other side of the barn, in the lovely bridal preparation room the gorgeous model, Kate was being glammed up by Harper and Milly on make up and hair duty. You would not believe that Kate has never done any modelling work previously when you see the professional shots!

The DressesGayle brought a variety of glorious dresses with her for the shoot, all of which were different to each other but oh so dreamy. Kate looked beautiful in every one but lets face it, she’d look great in a sack! It’s amazing what Gayle would do to help achieve great shots of the dresses and she was even known to lie down in the wheat fields, holding the dress for the finishing photos!

The CakeWe wanted to photograph both inside and outside to highlight the different ways to show your cake. Emily did a fabulous job of styling the cake area, it makes such a difference! I went for a whimsical and wild flower look for the cake and added a touch of edible gold leaf for an extra special touch and to tie in with the colour scheme.

Venue StylingEmily, Hannah and Lynsey did a great job in styling up the barn with beautiful crockery, statement flowers and finishing design touches to bring the whole thing together. The fabrics were wonderful and the small details always make a huge difference and the final look was stunning.

StationeryRebecca had created a beautiful set of stationery with everything matching throughout but each piece with it’s own special touch. Handmade paper, wax seal and hand detailed vellum made for a beautiful set of menu cards, favour tags, invites etc.

FlowersHannah travelled all the way for Leeds for this shoot and she also brought her new born baby girl and husband for a helping hand. Her little girl was so good throughout the whole day and never made a peep! Anyway, back to the flowers, which were spectacular and the bouquet was striking in terms of shape, size and colours.

The Photographs
The very lovely Deb was a trooper for the whole day. She snapped away behind the scenes and I actually very rarely knew she was even taking photographs. Something every wedding photography aims for I’m sure. She managed to capture the day beautifully and I literally had goosebumps when I saw the photos. She really is a dream and extremely talented. Here are some of the finished shots….
